Principal dancer with The Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet and the Washington Ballet,
dancer with Stuttgart Ballet and Guest artist at many of the world's most prestigious opera houses,
Simon Dow has had a truly international career. He was also an award winner at the prestigous IVth
Annual Moscow International Ballet Competition, partnering Amanda McKerrow.
Choreographically, he created Illuminata and Eclipse for
Washington Ballet, which were given their World Premiere at the Kennedy
Centre in Washington and was one of five international choreographers
who created solo works for performance at the Theaterhaus, Stuttgart.
A cross-discipline collaborative project at the famed Theater Artaud in
San Francisco and a solo work, in which he also performed, for last years'
Day Without Art at the legendary St Marks Church in NYC, are just
a few more of his choreographic achievements.
An internationally known teacher, in addition to being on the faculty of Steps,
Simon currently teaches company class for American Ballet Theater.
BALLET
The dancer at varying levels of ability will gain a clear and unmannered understanding of their
alignment and the anatomical needs of ballet through this class. Daily class begins with a progressively
structured barre, during which you reconnect to your individual potential. Carefully guided exercises
allow you to have an understanding of your own body before you move into the more challenging center work.
Simon's emphasis on the clarity of work is what attracts both professional ballet and modern dancers and
individuals seeking strength and alignment to dance freely. Simon strives to foster a focused, supportive
class environment but also works privately with dancers recovering from injury.
