Steps on Broadway




Michael Raine

Michael Raine graduated from CAP21 at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 1996, and has been teaching tap there since 2001. He has also taught for NYU's graduate acting department, Camp Broadway, DARE Dance, Music Theater Italy and various private studios all over the country. He has spent the last two years developing the choreography for a musical about Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, which has been performed at Lincoln Center Jazz, The Folksbiene/National Yiddish Theater, and had an off-Broadway run in Spring 2008. Other choreography credits include the Japanese tour of Rent (opened Tokyo 2006), Starmites (CAP21), Jimi and Mr. B (The Egg Theater, Albany), The Prince of Grand Street (Jewish Rep, NYC) as well as productions of On the Town, Gypsy, The Pajama Game and ...Charlie Brown. As a performer, Michael traveled Europe and the US in West Side Story, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the Australian tap musical Hot Shoe Shuffle and originated the role of Alan in the off-Broadway musical I Sing!
