Patricia Wilcox
Dance Training: B.S. and M.S. in Education
Performance/Company Affiliations: Patricia Wilcox danced nationally in productions of West Side Story, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Chosen and Damn Yankees, to name a few. She worked extensively in Europe in television, commercials, and tours.
Choreographic Experience:
Ms. Wilcox's credits include CHILDREN'S LETTERS TO GOD (Lamb's Theatre), BLUES IN THE NIGHT for the New York revival, the national and international companies, and Thames Television in London (Drama Logue Award and also NAACP Image Award nomination), A MARVELOUS PARTY (co conceiver-Geva Theatre, Northlight Theatre (JEFF Award) and Laguna Playhouse (LA Drama Critics Circle Award), BOWFIRE (PBS Special and national tour), SEUSSICAL (national tour), GUYS AND DOLLS (Paper Mill Playhouse), SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, CAMELOT and AIDA (North Shore Music Theatre), THE PAJAMA GAME (Chicago's Marriott Lincolnshire-Jeff nomination), PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Missouri Repertory Theatre), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, CABARET, and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Sacramento Music), MY FAIR LADY, HMS PINAFORE, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and SCAPAN (Arizona Theatre Company -4 AriZoni Awards), DIE FLEDERMAUS (Arkansas Opera), A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM for the prestigious Moscow Arts Center, HIT ME WITH A HOT NOTE starring Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., (national tour), A SWELL PARTY (Kennedy Center), and BROADWAY UNDER THE STARS in Bryant Park in NYC. She choreographed the rock 'n roll premiere of FALCO- A CYBER SHOW for the Ronacher Theatre in Vienna, the premiere of A MAGIC NIGHT for the Berns Theatre in Stockholm, and numerous tours and television hows in Europe. Ms. Wilcox staged original works for the Houston Symphony, Minnesota Pops, and Phoenix Symphony. She has also created numbers for ice skating gold medalists Viktor Petrenko, Ilia Kulik, Katya Gordeeva and two ice dancing teams for the recent 2006 Winter Olympics and this year's Worlds. Her work can currently be seen in Champions on Ice, Stars on Ice, and various television specials.
Teaching Experience: Besides teaching Jazz at Steps on Broadway, she has taught at Jacob's Pillow, the David Howard School of Ballet, master classes in Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Austria, Brazil, Argentina, and virtually every city across the U.S. She is also a repeat guest artist at Columbia University in NYC, University of California at Irvine, Indiana University, and Illinois State. She was voted "best dance class" in NYC by the reader's of Backstage for 2007.
Class Description: A thorough and solid warm up is provided in this class, followed by dance combinations in a variety of styles from jazz through lyrical to latin and swing. Patricia Wilcox's emphasis on musicality and technique, the frequent corrections she gives students in her class and the diversity of styles taught, fully equips the dancer for the demands of the theatre dance profession.
