A TASTE OF TAP with RAY HESSELINK

Join Ray Hesselink for this exciting workshop. Just bring your shoes, wear comfortable clothing and get out on the dance floor!

Ray Hesselink is a performer, choreographer and teacher. He originated roles in Imagine Tap! and the off-Broadway hit, Batboy: The Musical. He is the tap coach for the Broadway musical, Billy Elliot, and has choreographed for many venues including New York Musical Theater Festival, The Duke Theater, Symphony Space, and the Yale Drama School.

Classical ballet concepts made easy! Learn ballet fundamentals in a fun and clear way from experienced STEPS teacher and choreographer.

Kathryn Sullivan performed with the Boston Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, Connecticut Ballet, and Les Ballet de Nancy. She has taught at Broadway Dance Center, La Guardia High School of Performing Arts, New Jersey Ballet, and has done master classes and judging for Professional Dance Teachers Association and Dance Masters of America.

JAZZ ESSENTIALS with LISA HARVIE

All you need is comfortable clothing, jazz shoes and a little attitude!

Lisa Harvie has crossed the country on a U.S. National Tour of West Side Story and appeared in regional productions of Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate, Footloose, Scrooge and Singin' in the Rain. She played the role of Louise in Carousel at Stages St. Louis and performed in My Fair Lady for Houston Theatre Under the Stars as well as in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre and for Dallas Summer Musicals. In addition to her musical theater credits, she has danced with the Ottawa Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens at Canada's National Arts Center.

The Lab Series provides an opportunity for emerging and established artists from all live performance disciplines to experiment and experience their work in front of an audience.

The series provides space and minimal technical support for artists to present a specific and unique work of art in a supportive environment. Artists receive CONFIDENTIAL, written feedback from the audience.

December 1st is internationally recognized as World AIDS Day; a day dedicated to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS. Join Steps and its faculty, December 1-6, as we partner with Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) to raise money for organizations that assist those living with AIDS.

The following faculty will be contributing $1 for every student who attends the classes listed below. Steps on Broadway will match each dollar raised. Come to class and be a part of this great fundraiser.

Vladimir Shinov (SAS Musician) and his wife Marina Porchkhidze performed a lunch time concert at the JASA Senior Center as part of Steps on Broadway's artist series.

Patricia & Leslie Lockery's (Theater & Tap Faculty) NYC's Dance makers will be presenting Gotta Dance on 1/25, 1/26 & 1/28 at MMAC Theatre, 248 W 60th St. Stay tuned for more information.

David Howard (Ballet Faculty) was featured in the August 2009 issue of the British magazine Dancing Times.

Joyce King's (Jazz Faculty) company, JKing Dance Company, will be performing on 11/21 as part of PMT Fall Dance Series. Joyce will be doing a jazz dance residency for the Performing Arts School in Brooklyn.

Brice Mousset (Jazz Faculty) is working with Jermaine Browne on the next Victoria Secret Fashion Show in Nov.

David Guggino (SAS Faculty) performed on the "Live with Regis & Kelly".

Wes Veldink (Contemporary Faculty) will be teaching at Centro Danza di Maura Paparo in Milan at the end of Nov., in the south of Italy at Vividanza in Reggio Calabria in Dec., at the Nadine Bommer Academy in Tel Aviv, Israel and at Balletto di Roma in Rome in Jan 2010. He is currently teaching on a U.S. tour with Monsters of Contemporary. Finally, Wes just completed editing, Full Circle, a short dance film he directed and choreographed. His production company, Calm & Sense Productions will submit the film to dance film festivals in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Barbara Duffy (Tap Faculty) taught in Europe during Oct/Nov.

Lori Belilove (SAS Faculty) releases her DVD EveryWoman Series: The Red Thread and the companion CD 24 Preludes of Frederic Chopin by the John Link Project this month.
