PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM (ages 7-18) 
The Pre-Professional Program is a curriculum-based program designed for the dedicated dance student. Students are placed in one of four divisions, each with its own set of core classes and minimum class requirements. The diverse curriculum offers intensive training for the aspiring ballet dancer, as well as for dancers committed to musical theater studies. Performance opportunities include the annual year-end showcase at John Jay College, performances at Steps on Broadway's Studio Theater and community concerts throughout the city. Attendance in all Pre-Professional classes is strictly observed. Classes Offered: Ballet Technique, Pointe, Jazz, Theater Dance, Modern, Repertory, Variations and Partnering. Placement: Students interested in the Pre-Professional Program who are new to The School at Steps will be required to audition. Auditions for new students will take place throughout the preceding summer. Returning students will be provisionally placed in class based on an evaluation from the previous academic year. However, the teacher has the authority to reassign a class level, following an evaluation of the student's first class. Audition Dates 2009/2010: CLICK HERE for the audition form.
