TECHNIQUE CLASSES (ages 6-18)
Curriculum based courses strengthen the dancer's technique as well as develop artistic skills. The language of dance, as well as knowledge of correct structural and muscular placement, becomes second nature as students begin a concentrated focus in the different disciplines. There are no prerequisite classes or minimum class requirements; however, students are placed according to both age and ability. Saturdays 1:00-2:00 PM Matt Williams Broadway choreographer, Matt Williams and pianist Vladimir Shinov offer this exciting new technique class. Class begins with a ballet barre with non-traditional theater and jazz music and ends with new ballet-based choreography set to music from composers such as Bernstein,Ellington, Gershwin, Cole Porter and more. The Song and Dance Workshop Workshop Ages 12-18 yrs
Placement:Thursday 7:30-8:45 Jeff Edmond and Lawrence Rush The Song and Dance Workshop Workshop Ages 9-12 yrs Friday 5:00-6:15 Jeff Edmond and Lawrence Rush Musicals require multiple skills from their performers. Lead actors/singers must also be able to dance in production numbers. Chorus dancers must also be able to sing and act at a high caliber. These workshops offer students the opportunity to develop these skills. "Triple Threat" is not just a catch phrase it is a necessity. Comedy Improv Ages 12-18 Friday 6:15 -7:30 Jeff Edmond Improvised performance is as old as performance itself. In this course students learn performance techniques used in film, television, theater and stand up comedy. Students must meet age requirement by September 1, 2009. New students are required to take a placement class before registering in any Intermediate or Advanced classes. Returning students will be provisionally placed in class based on an evaluation from the previous academic year. However, the teacher has the authority to reassign a class level, following an evaluation of the student's first class. General Level Breakdown: Basic classes (ages 6-7) Graded level classes (ages 7-18) Teen classes (ages 12-18) Class Schedule Schedule subject to change and updates.
