
Lonné Moretton, originally from California, received degrees from San Jose State University (B.A., Drama) and New York University (M.F.A., Dance). His performance experience comprises ballroom dancing, musical theater, ballet, jazz and modern with Dennis Wayne's DANCERS, Boston Repertory Ballet, Joyce Trisler's Danscompany and Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble (charter member), as well as on TV ASAHI in Japan. Mr. Moretton is currently on the faculty of Ballet Arts, where he is the artistic director of showcases, Steps on Broadway, The School at Steps, and Montclair State University, as well as at Jacob's Pillow, Alvin Ailey Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, and Dance Space. He also taught Zena Rommett Floor Barre Technique® and was a guest faculty with David Howard's Teachers Workshop, and at the American Academy of Ballet Festival (Royal Academy of Dance School). Adjunct positions include CAP 21 (New York University), Adelphi, San Jose State University, SUNY/Purchase. International teaching includes Balett Akademien (Stockholm), Gulbenkian Ballet (Lisbon), Tani Momoko Ballet School (Tokyo), and at the Horeftika Vimata organization in Nicosia,( Cyprus).
Mr. Moretton has choreographed extensively, including commissions for Dennis Wayne's DANCERS, Dalton-Hartel Dance, Avila/Weeks, and Okamoto Ballet (Japan). He has choreographed musical theater for CAP 21, and as resident choreographer at Castillo Theater, his many credits include Marat/Sade, chosen for the 2000 Midtown International Theater Festival. From 1998-2010 he has choreographed the All-Stars Talent Network Galas at Lincoln Center, where he also choreographed two shows for the Reel to Real film/performance series. Since 2000-2008 Mr. Moretton has been invited to show dances at New Choreographers on Point "Previews", also presenting a work of the 92nd St. Y's 75th Anniversary Gala. He choreographs for New York-based band Bootä. Mr. Moretton has served as Ballet Master and Rehearsal Director for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Dennis Wayne's DANCERS, Joyce Trisler's Danscompany, Avila/Weeks, and Dance Express. He was a resident choreographer for Soundance Repertory Company from 1995-2000, and was Artist-in-Residence at the Brooklyn Music School in 2001.
