ABOUT PRE-PROFESSIONAL

The Pre-Professional division provides training for aspiring professionals in an atmosphere that promotes artistic excellence, strong technique, and sense of community. Dancers invited to participate in this audition-only program are encouraged to find their creative voice as they gain the building blocks for success.

Through rigorous training and participation in numerous performance opportunities, graduates of the Pre-Professional division flourish in elite college dance programs, conservatories, and dance companies, and can be seen in commercial work and on Broadway.

SELECT STUDY SCHEDULE

Pre-Professional Select Study has been designed for our students ages 14-18 who have achieved an advanced level of proficiency. This program offers a full array of Pre-Professional level classes taught by our Pre-Professional faculty and is joined by audition only. Although there is no minimum class requirement, students are encouraged to study multiple styles to maximize their progress. Those training in Select Study will have the opportunity to perform in our Winter Starlight, Spring Fling, and Spring Pre-Professional Concerts throughout the season.

DRESS CODE

Our dress code is designed to prepare our students for success in class. It allows them to fully focus on their work in the studio, while providing instructors a clear perspective on their placement andalignment. Arriving in proper attires creates an atmosphere of professionalism and community whileproviding an opportunity to demonstrate respect for the faculty and our craft.

HAIR
Dancers’ hair should be worn in a classical bun or pinned, clipped, and tied securely away
from the face. No loose or dangling jewelry is allowed in class.

UNDERGARMENTS
For young dancers, regular underwear is fine. As dancers get older we want to minimize the visibility of lines under leotards and tights and recommend a neutral colored seam free brief or dance belt.

Pre-Professional Program (ages 10-18, by audition)

Please fill out this form and upload your photo and solo video. We will then contact you to schedule your live audition.

Solo videos can be a solo choreographed for you, a solo you created, or improvisation. It can be in any genre – whatever you feel best showcases you as a dancer! Solo videos should be between 1-3 minutes long.

Students in the Pre-Professional division will be sent registration materials upon their acceptance into the program.

Registration Requirements

  1. All classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis
  2. Annual Registration Fee: $75 (valid Sept – Aug)
  3. All registrations will be done online. We will not be accepting mailed forms or checks.

Registration is not considered final until payment has been processed.

Refunds
Tuition is charged as a full season (by semester for First Steps). Please see below for our refund schedule:
Prior to Sept. 7, 2024 – 90% Refund of Tuition
Sept. 7, 2024 to Jan. 27, 2025 – 50% Refund of Tuition
After Jan 27, 2025 – No Refunds Granted
