Summer Intensive jazz dance class- dancers in heels in steps dance studio

SUMMER INTENSIVE

ages 10-18, by audition

The Steps Academy Pre-Professional Summer Intensive is designed for the dedicated, pre-professional dancer to supplement their training under the direction of illustrious faculty in the heart of New York City. The intensive consists of five individual weeks offering dancers ages 10-18 the opportunity to strengthen their technique and cultivate their personal artistry in an exciting, challenging, and nurturing environment. Dancers may choose to take any combination of the five weeks to best meet their needs and goals.

Students can expect to participate in a program that is both enriching and demanding. Featuring a diverse curriculum, dancers will leave the intensive stronger, more versatile, and ready to enter the new dance season with increased power and passion. Each day, students will participate in multiple technique classes and a choreography rehearsal. Participants are surrounded by aspiring dancers who work with each other to develop friendships and connections to last a lifetime. The program ends with a celebratory in-studio showing for friends and loved ones.

Previous faculty from the Summer Intensive include Leslie Browne (American Ballet Theater), Linda Kent (Paul Taylor Dance Company), Jacoby Pruitt (Bill T. Jones), Jordana Rosenberg and Audrey Schultz (Radio City Rockettes), Beau Harmon (So You Think You Can Dance), Aydin Eyikan (Bob Fosse’s Dancin’), Gracie Anderson (Cats National Tour), Michael Crawford (Dance Theater of Harlem), Linda Gelinas (Metropolitan Opera), Chryssie Whitehead (A Chorus Line), Krystyna Resavy (Associate Choreographer of The Cher Show), and many more.

Dancers’ hair should be worn in a classical bun for ballet classes or pinned, clipped, or tied neatly and securely from the face for all other technique classes.
