Kat Steers

Kat Steers is trained in both the Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti methods of ballet. She received her B.F.A. in modern dance from The North Carolina School of The Arts. There she studied techniques such as Graham, Horton, Cunningham, and Taylor, as well as worked with a variety of well-known modern dance choreographers. Living in NYC, Kat has studied all forms of dance with some of the most accomplished teachers in the world.

Kat has danced all over the world throughout her career. Her most cherished job was becoming a Radio City Rockette. She danced with the Rockettes for 18 years. Other credits include West Side Story, Will Rogers Follies, Oklahoma, Steel Pier, and Victor Victoria. She has danced in Las Vegas with Magicians David Copperfield and Lance Burton as well as in the Follies Bergere. Kat has performed in numerous industrials, commercials, TV appearances, and is a member of Equity Agva, Aftra, and Sag.

Currently Kat is teaching at the School at Steps, ages 2 through 18. Kat also teaches master classes in precision dance for various dance studios in and out of the city as well as Backstage Performing Arts Competition. Kat has taught many Rockette Experience classes and Summer Intensives at Radio City. Many of the dancers Kat has taught went on to become Radio City Rockettes themselves. Kat also teaches for National Dance Institute, which brings dance to the public schools here in NYC.

Along with her dance experience Kat is certified in The Stott Method of Pilates and is certified in pre and postnatal Pilates. Kat was voted in the top 20 Barre Method teachers of 2012. She has taught at physique 57, The Body, and currently Exhale Spa here in NYC. Kat also enjoys judging for a variety of dance competitions throughout the year.
